Ingredients
- 175 g (¾ cup) butter
- 50 g (¼ cup) sugar
- 180 ml (¾ cup) honey
- 5 ml (1 tsp) salt
- 225 g (1¾ cup) all-purpose flour
- 75 g (⅓ cup) sliced almonds (effilées)
- 5 dried figs (figues séchées)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter, sugar and honey together until pale and fluffy.
- Finely chop the dried figs and add them to the creamed mixture along with the sliced almonds. Mix well.
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together, then gradually add to the mixture. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Place a teaspoon of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets (forming small circles about 8 cm / 3 inches in diameter). Flatten each one lightly with your hands to create thin wafers.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Store in an airtight container once completely cooled.
These are thin, crisp almond wafers studded with sweet dried figs and honey — a delicious French-style biscuit perfect with tea or coffee!
